This is my son climbing in New Zealand. When I woke to this picture this morning I couldn’t help but think how amazing it is that he is experiencing a glimpse of Paradise; God’s promise of Heaven on Earth when he returns.
I’ve been focusing a lot of my reading on Heaven lately because it is the hope of Eternity that keeps me from living in fear when all around me there is chaos and debris.
God gives us glimpses of what Paradise will be like when we experience those pure moments of joy. I have had them. I know you have had them too; the moment my children were born, the moment I said “I do”, the view of a sunset and sunrise, the sense of the Holy Spirit being very present while worshiping in song. In these nano seconds there was only pure delight and no evidence of sin. Paradise is that and so much more!!
I can imagine as Luke was climbing these rocks over this gorgeous scenery his heart was experiencing pure delight and in those moments God was saying, “Luke, this is what I have for you for eternity because you have chosen me.”
Knowing that this glorious future awaits, may my life give perspective and courage to face present sufferings. In view of Eternity, they are only fleeting for those who call upon the name of the LORD.
